Throckmorton Gallery opened its second show of the work of Lucien Clergue this past week, a show of work done by the French-born photographer in America. The show, including B&W and color, vintage and non-vintage prints, titled “Clergue in America”, is also available in a book of the same title. In a gallery full of friends, admirers, patrons, and many of his models, Lucien Clergue, at 78 years of age, was clearly the most energetic, engaged and entertaining person there. Still looking forward to his next photograph, after 59 years of making photos, Lucien was recruiting new models from among the attractive crowd. I am also looking forward to his next photos.

During the opening, David Hume Kennerly arrived. An official White House photographer during the Gerald Ford presidency, Kennerly also photographed Clergue. Bob McNeely selected the photograph for the Oeil.
